It’s great when we get new Guiders within the organization and even better when they are placed in your unit. Many hands make light work!

For many who have been in Girl Guides for many years, the processes and procedures are second nature and we can forget that those new to Ontario Council are not familiar with any of the applications. Please try and guide them in their new role. Show them how Girls First works, how to create Safe Guide forms, how to submit Safe Guide forms for yellow and red level activities, all of the things we don’t give a second thought to, are brand new processes for our new Guiders.

New Guiders within our organization must also complete the New Guider Training and Safe Guide training within 6 months from when they started the process to become a Guider. While they do receive email reminders, if you can also try and encourage them to complete it, as without those trainings they become suspended and cannot continue within a unit until they are complete. And we don’t want to lose new Guiders before they get a chance to get into the thick of it!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time with questions or clarifications on any of my correspondence with you.

Yours in Guiding,
