For girls ages 7 and 8 Brownie Units meet once a week, usually for an hour and a half
The hands-on Brownies program is all about encouraging girls to develop their own identity and positive relationships with others. Brownies gain confidence by learning skills that they can use in their daily lives and develop a commitment to their communities through service projects and special events. Programming covers safety and healthy choices, science and technology, the arts and eco-awareness and camping.
Sample activities may include:
The versatile Brownie uniform – T-shirt, navy cargo pants, badge sash, reef knot pin and tie – allows girls to participate in the wide range of activities that Guiding is all about, from planting trees in a community garden and volunteering at their local food bank to canoeing down a river or discussing community safety with local politicians.
Girls in Brownies earn badges, crests and other awards in recognition for the leadership skills they’ve developed, the new adventures they’ve tried and the service they’ve given to their community.
Brownies wear their badges on their uniform badge sash.
