How do girls earn the Future Voter Challenge crest?

Sparks, Brownies and Guides

  • Learn about elections and what it means to stand up and have a say.
  • Encourage girls to vote for the activities they want to participate in by logging into the platform (with a parent or on their own) and favouriting their top five activities, instant meetings or challenges. Check out this resource to help girls and parents log in.
    • For Sparks and Brownies, you can also use the Discovery Sheets to explore the program.
  • Encourage girls to be vocal about issues or topics they are interested in. Do an activity that collects feedback from your girls or encourages them to vote for activities you do as a unit. Based on girls’ feedback, complete two of the activities from the platform.
  • Using the platform's activity format, create your own activity as a unit that highlights something special to girls in your local community that isn’t on the platform. If you can, do this activity!
    • The program team would love to hear about activities you've created! Share them with us using this survey.
  • Have your girls rank the activities you tried from favourite to least favourite. Have girls share why they liked certain activities and didn’t like other activities.

Pathfinders and Rangers

  • Learn about elections and what it means to stand up and have a say.
  • Host your own practice election by having girls vote for activities they want to participate in by logging into the platform and favouriting their top five activities, instant meetings or challenges from the platform. Check out this resource to help girls and parents log in.
    • Can you get more girls in your unit to vote than Canadians who voted in the 2015 Federal Election? Voter turnout was 68.5% in 2015.
    • BONUS: Hold an election results party where you reveal the activities voted for by the unit. During the party, decide when you want to do the activities during the year.
  • Use the group’s votes in your Unit Favourites to choose five additional activities for the challenge.
    • Encourage girls to champion the activities they choose. Have the girls individually or in groups lead five activities for their unit. Have girls add all the activities and information for the meeting to a Meeting card created on the platform.
    • To create a new meeting on the platform, click on “My Unit” then “Plan New Meeting” in the top right corner.
    • The program team would love to hear about activities you've created! Share them with us by using this survey.
    • Note: Pathfinders and Rangers can edit meetings in the “In Planning” stage once created by a Guider. Once a Guider has moved the meeting to “Planned,” only a Guider can edit the meeting.
  • Encourage girls to foster critical thinking. Have the girls in your unit comment about their experience with an activity on the platform. Have the girls share their reviews with the rest of the girls in their unit.
