Camp Woolsey day camp

Camp Woolsey Summer Day Camp

Camp Woolsey offers two streams of day camp programming; traditional Trek Day Camp session and on select weeks our Leadership Development Program 1

Each week, girls at day camp will enjoy an assortment of age-appropriate active games, art-based activities and water play in a safe environment supervised by our qualified and energetic staff. Each day will start with programming selected for your camper's age group and then plenty of individually-chosen activities. Day campers may get to participate in a variety of activities that may include archery, dance, nature photography, drama, hiking/geocaching, games, crafts, initiative tasks, visual arts and swimming.

Near Ottawa, Camp Woolsey’s 100 acres of mixed forest plays host to an extensive trail system for campers to explore. Our waterfront borders the Ottawa River and is a great place to cool off with a swim, play on the water trampoline, build sandcastles on the beach or go for a row boat ride. Depending on your camper's age, she can also learn to canoe.

Thursday evenings are an extra special time at Woolsey when day campers get to remain at camp and sleepover in a tent. She will get to sample what overnight camp is like complete with a cookout dinner, campfire and s’mores! The camp fee includes dinner and snack on Thursday and breakfast, lunch and snack on Friday.

On Fridays we invite parents/guardians to join their girls at camp at 4:00 p.m. for our fabulous Showcase and snack. Campers will be your hosts, taking you on tours of camp, your wait staff for the snacks and the stars of the showcase!

We take the worry out of getting there and are offering a new bus route in 2020! For parents who are not able to drive their camper to and from camp, we offer convenient bus transportation from several locations for the day camp program.

Leadership Development Program One (LDP 1) (girls born 2006-2008) Day Camp (also available as an overnight program at Camp Woolsey and Doe Lake Girl Guide Camp):

Based on the Girl Guide values, this program is a great way for girls to learn about their leadership strengths and develop new skills. Under the supervision of our experienced Leadership staff, campers will:

  • Investigate leadership styles and study what makes an effective leader
  • Continually receive guidance and mentoring from our leadership staff
  • Put their learning into practice as they spend time working with younger campers through a big sister/little sister mentorship program during several activity sessions
  • Learn to plan and assist in delivery of larger events, like a camp-wide game or a showcase
  • Receive five volunteer service hours

We make sure that girls have fun at camp by giving them time to participate in traditional camp activities in our beautiful natural surroundings. Learn more about the activities.

Your camper will be given documentation at the end of her camp program which she can provide to her Pathfinder Guider and/or high school in September. These hours may count towards your camper’s mandatory school volunteer requirements, however it is at the discretion of each school board.
