GGC and Plan Canada / Because I am a Girl
Welcome to Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada!
Girl Guides of Canada knows that to make positive changes in the world, girls and young women need to have a voice. Our National Service Project 2011: EmPOWERing Girls is all about recognizing the power that Canadian girls have to impact their communities and change the world around them. This year’s National Service Project encourages every Girl Guide Member to raise awareness and take real action on the issues that matter to her and those around her.

As part of this National Service Project, GGC is pleased to officially endorse Plan Canada’s “Because I am a Girl” campaign! Guiding Units across Canada are learning about the campaign as a way to speak out and take action:
“Girl Guides in Newfoundland and Labrador learned to make pillowcase dresses for girls of all ages in Africa. Dresses were brought over along with personal hygiene products, by someone in our unit. This helped us learn that it doesn’t take much or cost much to help girls in less fortunate countries.”
