Ayrwaves 2012, Scotland


WHEN?

Ayrwaves 2012 camp will take place in Ayrshire, Scotland, and is being organized by Girlguiding Ayrshire North. This exciting outdoor camp will bring together Girl Guides from around the world, who’ll have the opportunity to participate in many activities, including hikes, day trips, climbing, boating, Scottish crafts and so much more while meeting new friends, learning new skills and having lots of fun in the picturesque setting of Eglington Country Park.

Girls from around the world will for fun and friendship at this international camporee. A girl forum where girls can address the ways in which they want to change the world will be included along with general camp program, international performances, and special shows.

Northwest Centennial Roundup Camporee, Oregon, U.S.A.


WHEN?

Overall dates: August 5 – August 14, 2012

  • Two Guiders per patrol

Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington is having a 100th Anniversary roundup camping event on Foster Lake near Sweet Home, Oregon. Activities will include various sports to play and waterfront swimming and boating. Each evening there will be entertainment on the main stage and a huge 100th birthday party with a wide variety of activities ending with birthday cake and a concert.

The UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the primary global policy-making body dedicated to gender equality and the advancement of women. As a WAGGGS representative at the CSW’s 2012 session, you will  be focusing on developing strategies to enhance the economic empowerment of rural women. This international event is ideally suited for GGC Members who have experience living or working in rural Canada or studying the issues affecting rural women.

The Girls’ World Forum is the third and final event in a series of forums that are part of WAGGGS’ global centenary celebrations. The 2012 Forum will focus on ending extreme poverty and hunger, promoting gender equality and empowering women, and achieving environmental sustainability. Participants will have an amazing opportunity to meet and interact with a global girl audience and look at the role they can play as global citizens.
