New CEO for Girl Guides of Canada
After a comprehensive search process and on the recommendation of the Board of Directors, it is with pleasure I announce that Jill Zelmanovits will be our new Chief Executive Officer, Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada effective August 8, 2016.

Jill is a bilingual lawyer who brings 15 years of progressive not-for-profit leadership experience to the CEO role.
She is passionately committed to the Mission of GGC. She has served as Trustee on the World Board of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girls Scouts (WAGGGS) for five years, and also held positions of Chair, Membership Growth Work Group, and Chair, Advocacy Task Group. Additionally, Jill has been a member of the Membership Services Working Group which is responsible for defining a value proposition for WAGGGS members, a member of the Global Engagement group which is responsible for re-branding WAGGGS and a member of the Technology Work Group developing a new comprehensive technology and innovation plan for WAGGGS. Jill has also worked for the WAGGGS Europe Region office located in Brussels.
Jill has previous GGC experience as a past Board Director, as a member of Audit and Finance, and has chaired several committees including Governance.
In her legal profession, Jill was a commercial litigator at a Bay Street law firm before working for Legal Aid Ontario at a number of Community Legal Clinics. Most recently, she was head of the Housing Department and a Staff Lawyer at West Scarborough Community Legal Services.
Jill is a member and also a mother of a Girl Guide. In accepting the position of CEO, she said: “I am honoured to have been chosen for this role and am inspired by the passionate leadership I see throughout the organization. I look forward to engaging with the staff, Board, Provincial Commissioners and Councils, leaders and girls across the country. I arrive convinced that Girl Guiding is what girls need to be the best that they can be and full of optimism in the strength of Girl Guides of Canada.”
The Board is confident that Jill has the skills, experience and personal characteristics to be an innovative CEO for Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada.
