Are you looking to enhance your unit program? Requesting a Resource Guider is a great option! Resource Guiders are adult members of Girl Guides of Canada, Ontario Council with specialized skills that enjoy working with girls but require a flexible Guiding commitment.

To request a Resource Guider from the list below, click on the Book Now button and complete the online request form. You will receive confirmation of your request and will be contacted by the Resource Guider within seven days to arrange your activity.

    Basic American Sign Language

    Location: Unit Meeting place, community 9

I am a certified yoga instructor and have completed the 250 hour training program at The Yoga Centre of Burlington. In this fun interactive session, we will help each other and work on team building.     Learn to Sew

    The 1st Middlesex West Trefoil in Motion Trefoil Guild are pleased to offer a revamped learn to sew program for older girls. Groups of up to 15 participants will have the option of making a set of outdoor winter wear (toque, scarf and mittens), a teddy bear or a vest. Everyone in your group must agree to make the same thing. We will provide all materials and equipment. Extra pairs of good fabric scissors are always welcome. Please label your equipment.     Canoe Paddling/Tripping

    Learning about Natural Dyes

    Northern Ontario

    Introduction to Astronomy

    Location: Sudbury, willing to travel within a 2 hour radius. Doe Lake is within reason.
    Suitable For: Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers
    Cost: Cost of the craft depends on the type of craft and will be discussed with Guider. Mileage is $0.25/km. Units are required to provide materials for most activities. These are generally household items or things found in the dollar store. A $10 flat fee will be charged to cover travel expenses. If you wish to learn about electrical circuits, there is a $10 fee (for batteries and replacement parts).

    While learning to recognize constellations and planets, one also learns to orient themselves without the use of a compass or GPS. There is a sense of awe that comes from connecting with nature, recognizing our place in the cosmos and appreciating the connection between lore and culture.
    I review use of planispheres and sky maps and participants are used to create a solar system and a galaxy. Power point presentations are available on a number of subjects. Two styles of telescopes are provided for demonstration purposes. If a clear night sky is available, a night sky tour will be conducted. The focus is on visual astronomy, naked eye, with binoculars and finally with telescope(s). If there is enough time there will be a craft.     Take action towards global and environmental service and learn about international issues and women's issues through this workshop. The main activity entails producing and packing sustainable, washable, cloth-based menstrual hygiene kits for girls who need them in Canada and in developing countries around the globe. Days for Girls aims to provide a dignified and educated approach to menstrual hygiene that will allow all girls to participate fully and achieve their potential in education and civil life. Participants will learn about the project and the regions in which kit distributions have taken place. They will also learn to accurately measure, cut fabric and use a serger and a sewing machine.

    The Great Big World
