16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence: November 25-December 10, 2017
From November 25 (International End Violence Against Women Day) through December 10 (International Human Rights Day), 16 Days is an international campaign focused on ending violence against women and girls around the world. In Canada, it also includes our National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women and Girls (December 6), commemorating the violent murder of 14 women in 1989 at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal (Montréal Massacre). The campaign is a time for reflection on the many forms of violence against women and girls both locally and around the world and to take action to put an end to it.
Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada (GGC) recognizes and values the richness of human diversity in its many forms, and therefore strives to ensure environments where girls and women from all walks of life, identities, and lived experiences feel a sense of belonging and can participate fully. This commitment to inclusion means GGC's culture, programming, and practices encourage self-awareness and awareness of others; room for difference; and environments where girls and women feel safe, respected, supported, and inspired to reach their potential.
