Help shape the future of Guiding
Applications now open
The National Youth Council is a group of Rangers from across Canada who help to inform and make recommendations to the GGC Board of Directors to ensure that what matters to girls is front and centre in everything Guiding does. Applications are now open for the next slate of members.
Who can apply?
Any girl member registered as a Ranger for the upcoming Guiding year (includes current third-year Pathfinders).
What does the youth council do?
As a member of the National Youth Council, you’ll do things like:
- advise GGC about the issues that matter to girls and young women
- offer input about what girls really want from Guiding
- be as a spokesperson and ambassador for GGC
How can I apply?
Fill in the online application form HERE
The application deadline is Tuesday, June 19.
What happens after I apply?
A selection committee that includes out-going National Youth Council members will assess all written applications based on a set of standard criteria. Some candidates will be selected for an interview and be asked to provide references. All candidates will be notified before the end of August.
If I’m selected to be on the Council, what can I expect?
The National Youth Council meets in person at least twice per year – once in the fall as an orientation and planning session, and once in late spring as part of GGC’s Annual General Meeting. In between, the Council has monthly teleconference meetings as well as ongoing communication through an online forum. Throughout the year, you’ll be asked to give feedback on various topics or work on other projects. On average, you can expect to spend 5-10 hours per month doing Youth Council related work.
