About the Opportunity

The Senior Manager provides leadership in the strategic planning, implementation and issues management for the on-going communications and marketing responsibilities of GGC. Reporting to Chief Operating Officer (COO), this key management position oversees and advises on cross-disciplinary collaboration within GGC to deliver on all matters pertinent to marketing and communications. The Senior Manager establishes and implements communications and marketing goals, strategic plans and related roadmaps, policies and operating procedures associated with the public branding of the organization at a national level.

The ideal candidate will be a communicator first, with a strong mix of media relations and issues management expertise as well as experience leading marketing creative, gained from senior management roles within complex multistakeholder environments.

The Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications will:

  • Oversee the strategy, development and execution of all internal, external and marketing communications activities.

  • Work in partnership with Member Relations teams and our agencies to plan, develop and execute strategic and engaging marketing plans and creative assets to drive member retention and acquisition.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel and risk mitigation on issues management at the national and provincial level.
  • Develop and implement new processes and procedures, as well as improve existing ones, to continuously raise the bar and drive innovation across all communications activities.

You should apply if you have:

  • Minimum 10+ years of demonstrated communications experience including employee communications, executive communications, external communications, media relations and issues management, ideally in the not for profit or social impact sector.
  • Minimum of 4+ years leading and coaching a high-performing communications and/or marketing team.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills and advanced storytelling capabilities, with the ability to connect messaging to our strategy and make complex information easy to understand.
  • Proven experience consulting with, and writing for, executives and senior management, working with interdisciplinary teams and managing communications processes.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Member Relations, the Research & Data Analyst measures, tracks and analyzes GGC’s membership trends & data as well as other topics related to the organization. It also plays an important role in knowledge translation to communicate these findings to others in the organization. This is a key role in generating insights, analysis, and monitoring performance of GGC’s strategic priority of membership growth. The successful candidate will have a passion for analyzing data, discovering key insights, and articulating findings to stakeholders. Note that this role will have a close relationship with the Member Experience department as well.

Responsibilities include:

About the Opportunity

GGC is seeking a dynamic Team Lead, Outdoor Experiences to lead and expand the Outdoor Experiences (OE) team at the national office. This will include defining new opportunities and overseeing the activities to successfully research, scope and drive a plan and a team to provide outdoor opportunities for Guiding units. This role will lead staff goal-setting, help define and coach for success, provide coaching and mentorship to staff, oversee OE Partnerships and contracts, and provide a safe, inclusive space where the team understands what success looks like and feels supported to do their best work. The Team Lead will:

  • Oversee a team of approximately 3 OE staff and help to grow to a team as needed.
  • Research, assess and expand Ontario OE model and build relationships across national membership to find opportunities that create additional value to members, support the Theory of Change, and help to achieve the outcomes for girls in GGC.
  • Coach and oversee team as they support partnerships and members to access outdoor experiences
  • Build out and create work-back plans collaboratively with member and staff input, which ultimately set out execute projects as defined by the current strategic plan.

  • Collaborate closely with Risk, Marketing & Communications, Learning & Engagement, Finance and IT Teams to ensure processes are easy for members to adopt.

  • Support key stakeholders from time to time, including subject matter experts, Camping/Outdoor Experiences Advisers, PR advisers and other partners as required.

Waterfront Staff (May to August 2023)

Location: Camp Olave, 1570 Jack Rd, Sechelt, BC V7Z 0A1.
The successful applicant will ideally live onsite at Camp Olave for the duration of the contract term (room and board will be provided by the Camp).

About the Opportunity

Join us and work May through to August. With over 1500 meters of ocean beach overlooking the scenic Georgia Strait, this position will allow you to play an important part in the girls’ fun, friendship, adventures and discovery at Camp Olave. The camp has been operating for 95 years providing a variety of camping experiences for girls. Covid-19 organizational /provincial protocols will be adhered to.

You will report to the Waterfront Manager and in this exciting position your main responsibility will be to ensure the safety of participants in all waterfront activities including swimming, kayaking and canoeing. In this role, you will:

  • Maintain a safe, interesting and enjoyable waterfront and naturalist program for Guiding member in accordance with Safe Guide and waterfront policies.
  • Ensures the safety of participants in all waterfront activities such as swimming, kayaking and canoeing.

  • Provide waterfront safety instruction to all participants.
  • Organize recreational waterfront and nature programs by scheduling and arranging aquatic and nature activities with Guiding groups.

About the Opportunity

The Executive Coordinator is a key member of the Executive Office team. The Executive Coordinator will:

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

The Governance Specialist is a member of the Executive Office team who provides vital support to the Board of Directors. Their mandate is to provide direction, leadership, and support to ensuring the continual and seamless operations for the GGC Board of Directors and Board Committees. 

In the execution of their duties, the Governance Specialist has five key responsibilities: (1) lead the execution of governance operations and meeting administration, (2) lead all governance projects and events, (3) contribute to the creation of the annual departmental budget and event budgets, (4) support governance policy and compliance and (5) manage stakeholder relationships with Board Directors, Chairs, and staff. 

To successfully deliver the Governance Specialist is efficient, exceptionally organized, creativity, customer focused and produces work accurately and with speed. The Governance Specialist has governance subject matter expertise and is experienced in supporting a Board and Board Committees, all while providing recommendations for process and procedures improvements to better serve the Board Directors, as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Governance Specialist will:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations and activities of the Board of Directors and committees – including coordinating the work of the committees
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator on recruitment, succession planning, and orientation activities 
  • Conduct research, compile data and prepares reports and other written documentation per the Board and committees’ needs
  • Be responsible for the accuracy of governance SharePoint sites, Outlook distribution lists, meeting calendar and calendar invites, and governance tracking documents
  • Establish, revise, and maintain records of governance operational procedures and business processes where relevant 
  • Design and/or implement process improvements - including new methods, processes and tools for efficient, effective and innovative ways of delivering leading practices in NFP governance 
  • Participate in monthly update meetings with the CEO and Manager, Executive Suite & Governance to review upcoming actions items and ensure agendas are framed well in advance
  • Attend Board of Directors and Committee meetings (where appropriate) and act as the recording secretary who drafts accurate minutes
  • Coordinate action items and results/outcomes of the Board’s meetings to ensure board approved policies and activities are carried out in the organization
  • Lead the coordination of forward business cycles and schedules for the operations of the Board and Committees

GGC is actively searching for a Volunteer Management Specialist

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

GGC has a volunteer membership of 15,000. The Volunteer Management Specialist’s ultimate goal is to be the resident expert on volunteer performance & management. They develop guidelines and coaching to senior volunteers in volunteer management roles on how to encourage exceptional performance and how to manage performance issues. They are also the resident expert on volunteerism and its trends, both internal and external to Girl Guides. They use their knowledge and expertise to recommend strategies to the organization and to develop, implement, and continuously improve effective procedures, resources and tools that support members on performance management.

Responsibilities include:

Membership support

  • Manage the development and implementation of performance guidelines for adult members and volunteers
  • Develop and implement ongoing training and learning support on coaching and performance management for GGC’s senior volunteers
  • Provide advice and coaching support to senior volunteers on performance development and management and other topics related to volunteer management
  • Collaborate with the Learning and Engagement Team on trainings and other learning opportunities for senior volunteers
  • Work with other membership staff to develop insights on drivers of satisfaction and report to internal networks to inform actions and strategies that drive retention in adult members
  • Develop strategic communications to support volunteer performance and coaching, specifically contributing to publications for senior volunteers
  • Develop and monitor the typical GGC adult member lifecycle to support and inform the design of programs and processes at the organization
  • Understand membership statistics and make recommendations for improving data requirements to support ongoing projects; provide support to data analyst, when required
  • Monitor trends and best practices in volunteer management and volunteerism to share with network of volunteer managers at the organization and provide input on programs and activities at GGC
  • Maintain membership policies and procedures and support the development of new ones as needed including performance management and other volunteer management related topics
  • Support the creation of volunteer position descriptions and assessment of existing ones for improvements and updates
  • In collaboration with Learning and Development staff support the creation of a learning journey for specific volunteer roles
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge concerning the membership database (iMIS) to access information and generate reports

Administration

  • Contribute to the development of the Member Relations department budget and monitor project expenses, as required
  • Actively contribute to the short, medium, and long-term planning of the Member Relations department and GGC’s strategic plan implementation

You are an ideal candidate if you have/are:

  • Volunteer or membership management experience
  • Experience designing and facilitating coaching and training sessions
  • Experience designing and executing retention strategies and campaigns
  • Experience analyzing, synthesizing and reporting data
  • Strong copy-writing skills with a specific focus on a volunteer audience
  • Experience and excellence in analyzing data and deriving insights for recommendations
  • Skilled at influencing stakeholders to adopt recommendations for supporting senior volunteers
  • Exceptional at creating reports and PowerPoint presentations to share data in a clear and compelling manner
  • Proficient in the Office 365 suite including SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, etc.

Starting Salary: $67,789
