Q. What do girls do?
A. In Girl Guides, most girls will join a unit made up of girls in the same age bracket led by adult volunteers, or Guiders. In a unit, girls will earn badges for the new skills they learn and activities they complete. There are as many as 32 badges to earn in each age bracket, and girls can choose which areas of interest they want to explore.
Whether your girl is interested in nature and the outdoors, STEM, art, entrepreneurship or giving back to the community, she’ll find something that excites her with our diverse selection! Learn more about our program here.
Throughout the year, there may also be special events for her unit, or for all Girl Guides in her province. These events can include camping trips, visits from renowned women or even travel.
Q. What do girls get from joining Girl Guides?
A. Guiding is a place where girls and young women can challenge themselves, put their ideas into action, take part in an amazing range of activities, and gain the skills to confidently navigate their world.
At Girl Guides, girls will have fun while gaining valuable life skills. Some of the benefits of joining Girl Guides include:
- Learning the importance of healthy relationships and taking part in anti-bullying initiatives.
- Developing a strong sense of self by building confidence in their abilities.
- Exploring their communities, the world around them and how to make a positive impact.
- Gaining important financial, entrepreneurial and leadership skills by taking place in our cookie fundraising program. Girls will learn how to make important business decisions and set themselves up for future successes!
We believe these skills will set girls up for a bright future and give them the tools to become the next generation of leaders.
