Journey through London

Through this amazing journey you'll travel to London, England, where you'll explore the city where the Guiding Movement began and meet Girl Guides and Girls Scouts from around the world at Pax Lodge. You'll enjoy several days of sightseeing and exploration in London, as well as the opportunity to participate in unique challenges and international activities. This amazing program is designed to enhance your leadership skills while empowering you to make a difference in an international community.

Sea Adventure

Our Cabaña, Mexico
November 8 – 16, 2018

This trip has it all!  Our Cabaña is offering an amazing opportunity to discover the culture and traditions of Mexico while also helping to preserve the lives of endangered sea turtles. You'll start the trip off exploring Our Cabaña before heading off to Acapulco to volunteer at the Turtle Camp. You'll play games on the beach, visit the ruins of Teopanzolco and celebrate with girls from around the world during a Mexican fiesta!

Discover the magic of the first WAGGGS World Centre, Our Chalet! On this trip, you'll explore the beautiful Swiss Alps as you challenge yourself through a variety of adventure activities such as hiking, rock climbing, abseiling, and zip lining. You'll also get to savour Swiss culture as you tour picturesque towns, visit local shops, and even sample authentic Swiss chocolate. Girl Guides Australia is hosting an incredible camping event for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world. Bring your spirit of adventure as you explore the natural beauty, unique history, and cultural diversity of Sydney and surrounding areas Down Under. You'll participate in a wide range of activities including canoeing, hiking, outdoor cooking, crafts, swimming, games, and more!

Trip Eligibility

In order to provide Nationally Sponsored Trip opportunities to as many members as possible, members are eligible to participate once as a Girl and once as a Guider in one domestic and one international trip.

Girls

  • Eligibility is determined by date of birth (age on trip departure date) and dependent on continued girl membership
  • For camping trips only – must have a minimum of two nights camping experience at the Guide level or higher
  • No previous travel experience is required

Guiders

  • Eligibility is dependent on current adult membership status
  • Must have volunteered as a Unit Guider within the last five years and have experience supervising 13 to 18 year olds overnight in a Guiding or non-Guiding setting within the last five years
  • For camping trips only – must  have a minimum of two nights of camping experience as an adult member
  • Must have Standard First Aid

 

As GGC is committed to the health and safety of its members at all times.

GGC reserves the right to cancel and/or reschedule trips, as might be required.

Costs & Fundraising

Girls

  • You will receive a financial subsidy of 50% of the total cost from GGC including domestic and international airfare, accommodation, booking and program fees, tours and transfers, and medical and travel insurance.
  • You are encouraged to fundraise for the remainder of your trip costs. Refer to GGC's Fundraising Guidelines
  • for information on how to fundraise for trips. As per the fundraising policy, all Girl members are expected to pay 10% of the trip cost unless there is financial need.  
  • You may be eligible for travel grants from your province, area, unit, etc. It is recommended that you contact your council to inquire about this potential funding.
  • You will be financially responsible to pay for the remaining 50% of the trip cost prior to trip departure.
  • You will also be responsible for incidental costs over and above the listed trip expenses, such as passport fees, travel to and from your local airport, personal spending money, etc. Incidental costs cannot be covered through fundraising.
  • If you need to cancel for any reason other than illness or a family emergency, you will be responsible for covering any fees/charges incurred by GGC.

Guiders

  • As a Guider, you will receive 100% of the total cost of the trip through the Jean Youngson Memorial Bequest to the Canadian World Friendship Fund (CWFF). This subsidy includes domestic and international airfare, accommodation, booking and program fees, tours and transfers and medical and travel insurance.
  • You will be responsible for incidental costs over and above the listed trip expenses, such as passport fees, travel to and from your local airport, personal spending money, etc.
  • Fundraising by adult members is not permitted as per GGC's fundraising policy.
