Camping offers girls an opportunity to develop leadership skills while learning an appreciation for the outdoors, and a respect for our environment. The Camping Department is available to provide help and resources to any Guider planning a camp or outdoor activity. They are also responsible for circulating information about inter-provincial camping opportunities for girl and adult members as well as planning and province-wide camps that may be offered. The Camping Department may also work with the Training Department in presenting camp
trainings which will improve the volunteer experience and enhance the
Guiding program.

You will find tools such as a sample camp itinerary, packing lists, menu planning templates, as well as information on training opportunities that can further develop your camping and outdoor skills.
GATHER interprovincial camp, July 11-17, 2024 in Pike Lake, Saskatchewan
Girl Guides of Canada – Newfoundland and Labrador Council will be sponsoring a patrol for an interprovincial camp being offered in the summer of 2024.
Camp Description: GATHER is a small interprovincial camp, expecting approximately 150 youth plus Guiders. The program will be youth-driven, with out-trip offerings including canoeing, sand dune hiking, zip-lining, heritage park plus more!
Where: Camp Trefoil Trails – Pike Lake, Saskatchewan
When: July 11-17, 2024. The trip begins from and ends at the St. John’s International Airport. Transportation to and from the airport is extra and it is the parents’/participants’ responsibility.
Who: We are looking for
- Eight (8) youth members born between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2011 that are registered in Pathfinders or Ranger for the 2023-2024 Guiding year.
- Two (2) adult Guiders.
Members may apply for more than one provincially sponsored trip. Where members meet the requirements of the application, preference will be given to members who have not previously participated in a provincially sponsored trip.
Participation in this event is an independent travel experience. If you are applying with a friend, we cannot guarantee that you will both be accepted.
Guiders and all youth must be registered in Girl Guides of Canada, have four nights tenting (need not be consecutive) at Girl Guide camps, by July 1, 2024.

Cost to youth: $1,400 including flights, program fee, meals, travel and medical insurance. This does not include personal spending money.

Provincial Guide, Pathfinder and Ranger Camp 2024
Come brave the four elements water, fire, earth and air at Camp 4 Elements NL Provincial Camp 2024! Members will experience water activities in the lake, meet Guiding friends from across the province, and sleep in tents.
Where: Camp Emanuel in Lewisporte
When: Thursday, August 8 @ 5 p.m. - Monday August 12, 2024
Who: We are looking for
- Youth members who are registered as a Guide, Pathfinder, Ranger or Bridging Member in the 2023-2024 Guiding year
- Adult Guiders (leaders)
Cost:
- The cost to youth is $225 + HST per participant. Camp participants will receive a camp T-shirt, crest and lanyard. Areas and Districts may be able to subsidize camp cost.
- There is no registration fee for adult Guiders to attend camp.
How to apply:
- Youth registration will open on March 12 and close on April 30. After camp registration has closed, payment instructions will be emailed to families. Register now.
- Guiders interested in attending either as Patrol Guiders or Core Crew should contact Melanie at nl-camping@girlguides.ca.
Additional camp details:
- Patrols will be responsible for their own gear (tents, tarps, etc)
- All participants are responsible for their personal gear.
- Cooking gear is not required. Meals will be catered.
- Detailed kit list will be provided prior to the event
This camp has water activities. To participate, all participants will need to have a GGC swim test recorded in their Guiding profile.
- Participants who have completed swimming lessons may receive swim test equivalency. Please send the certificate for highest level completed to nl-applications@girlguides.ca .
- If you have access to a public swimming pool, you can take the Girl Guides Swim Test form to a public swim and most lifeguards would be happy to complete the form for you. All completed forms should be sent to nl-applications@girlguides.ca .
- For those who are unable to complete a swim test prior to camp, there will be an opportunity to complete it at camp.

LEAP interprovincial camp, August 3-9, 2025 at Doe Lake Girl Guide Camp near Huntsville, Ontario
Girl Guides of Canada - Newfoundland and Labrador Council will be sponsoring a patrol for an interprovincial camp being offered in the summer of 2025.
Camp Description: LEAP is an Ontario provincial camp designed for adventurers and explorers and will host up to 1,200 campers and volunteers from across Ontario and Nunavut. A LEAP camper will discover everything they want to be while participating in incredible Guiding activities, making memories, developing confidence and leadership skills and making many new friends from across Ontario, Nunavut and maybe even other parts of Canada.
Youth can expect to choose from dozens of program options. Sample activities may include:
- High-adrenaline experiences like rock climbing and high ropes courses
- Classic camp fun such as archery and hiking
- Opportunities to cool down at the beach with swimming, canoeing, and kayaking, sailing and stand-up paddle boarding
- Getting creative with special fine arts and craft projects like pottery and painting
- Conducting innovative STEM experiments like robotics, participating in meaningful community service projects
- Off-site adventures and much more
