Guiding is a world wide organization and Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada is a founding member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), a movement of 150 countries with more than 10 million members. The Canadian Guiding program, from Sparks up through all levels of Guiding, encourages us to learn about our sister members in other countries, to explore other cultures, and to examine issues affecting girls and women throughout the world.

Responsibilities of the International Committee include:

  • Promoting WAGGGS’ activities, programs, publications and events
  • Promoting World Thinking Day and Guide & Scout Week activities
  • Promoting domestic and international opportunities for girls and adult members
  • Fostering and encouraging projects which will create an interest and/or awareness of World Guiding such as twinning and the CWFF

International Ideas and Activities for Units

  • The International Day of the Girl is celebrated worldwide each year on October 11. Put girls in the lead with these ideas!
  • There are many ideas in the Climate Change Challenge that you could use in your unit.
  • Add your voice to the WAGGGS Stop the Violence campaign.
  • Learn about advocacy using the WAGGGS Advocacy Toolkit

Our Cabana Adult Member Trip

*Please Note: The dates and information below is based on the 2021 trip, which has been cancelled. We are trying to reschedule for 2022*

Program date: June 28 to July 5 (Leave NL day before depending on flight times)

Program: The Magical Firefly’s Forest

  • One night at Fireflies Forest Trips to Puebla and Tepoztlán
  • Community action activity
  • Programming
  • All meals


  • Program: $1450 USD (but with 20% discount: $1160 USD
  • Flight: ~$1000 CAD
  • Miscellaneous: One night hotel in Mexico City, if flight arrives late at night, plus transport to and from Our Cabana
  • Total cost: ~$3000 CAD
  • 10% deposit ($300) due on May 31


June 15 to May 15: 12 monthly payments of $225, or you can pay in lump sums if it is ahead of the monthly payment schedule.

Guider needs to be 19 years old as of June 28 (start of the trip)
