The Lones program

September's Guider of the Month theme is Camping. Nominate a Guider today!

The Guider of the Month award is a way for girls and youth members to nominate any adult Guiding member who has had a positive impact on their Guiding experience. It is an award that celebrates the contribution that they make to Girl Guides of Canada and specifically your daughter and her unit. Only nominations written by girl/youth members will be considered, but parents may help younger members complete the application if needed.

Clear the Air on Vaping Risks – Service Project Grants for Rangers
to all Ranger parents
Calling all creative and health-conscious Rangers. Rangers can reach out to Melina MacLean at melina.maclean@gmail.com by September 30th, 2019 if they are interested in participating in a project funded by Health Canada on the risks of vaping. 

Bonita Glen Farewell Celebration
to all parents in communities 5-8, 14, 16-19, 21-23. 30-32, 37, 38 and 41
Take a trip down memory lane and celebrate 80 years of camping experiences at Bonita Glen. This event is a drop in for any members (girl and adult) or past members who want to reminiscence about old memories throughout the campgrounds before it closes at the end of October 2019. Please bring your photos and memorabilia to share with others. BBQ and refreshments will be provided courtesy of the 1st Bonita Trefoil Guild on a first come, first served basis. 

Take Back the Night 2019
to all parents in communities 6-23, 37, 38 and 41
Take Back the Night is a worldwide annual event. The rally and march takes a stand against violence against women and girls and gives women, girls and non-gender conforming folks a safe space to speak out. Grab your sign and join in the fun as we march to end violence against women and girls in our community and beyond. 

Girl Guide Program Day
to Spark, Brownie and Guide parents in communities 13-19, 22, 23, 37, 38 and 41
Register your daughter/ward for some fun-filled, girl-focused program days. Participants will enjoy outdoor games, crafts, songs and more. Each day we will do activities and earn a special crest from different provincial and global Girl Guide challenges. Register for three or more program days by Thursday October 31st, 2019 to receive a $5 discount per day. 

Welcome to Guiding picnic
to all parents in communities 9, 10, 14, 21 and 41
Guiders and girls are invited to a BBQ with lots of fun activities to kick off the 2019-2020 Guiding year. Come dressed for the weather.

Bonita Glen Celebration Campfire
to all parents in communities 5-8, 13-19, 22, 23, 30-32, 37, 38 and 41
Join us for our farewell campfire. The Bonita Glen Trefoil Guild is hosting and will provide hot chocolate and a celebration button for the event. Bring your loudest singing voices to our event so that they may be heard throughout Ontario. This will be the last event hosted by the Trefoil Guild at the camp before it is sold. 

Girl Guide Cookie Bowl
to all parents in communities 1-4, 6-10, 13, 14, 21 and 41
All GGC members and their families are invited to kick-off the new Guiding year at the Girl Guide Cookie Bowl. Girls will join the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for an afternoon of football and fun. Prizes will be awarded to the units with the greatest number of participants in their group. Units are encouraged to wear uniform or casual Guiding gear.

August 10-11th, 2019: Bricks in the Six (Toronto)
to all parents in communities 13-19, 22, 23, 37, 38 and 41
Bricks In The Six, an unofficial LEGO fan convention will bring LEGO® fans, families, collectors, and exhibitors together to enjoy a weekend of brick-building fun in over 25,000 square feet of convention space. The weekend will be filled with countless creations made from LEGO, with a bounty of bricks. Girls that wear a Guiding item to this event (a t-shirt, uniform, scarf, etc.) will receive a free gift at the door. 

August 16th, 2019: Girl Guide Day with the Toronto Argonauts (Toronto)
to all parents in communities 13-19, 22, 23, 37, 38 and 41
In partnership with the Toronto Argonauts, we are hosting a special summer event to show our appreciation for GGC members. In addition to the CFL football game, each Argos ticket purchase includes all-day access to the CNE. Members of GGC and their friends and family are welcome to attend. Girls and adult members can attend as a unit or as individuals with their families. Celebrate summer and spend the day under the sun at the BMO field.

August 25th, 2019: Girl Guides at Ottawa Pride 2019 (Ottawa)
to all parents in communities 27-29 and 40
Come out and show your pride and demonstrate your commitment to inclusivity and diversity! We’re excited to participate in Ottawa Capital Pride 2019 with a large contingent of Guiding members marching, singing and celebrating. Girls and women of all ages and from all areas of Ontario are welcome to join us to march, or to work at the GGC booth that will be set up to promote Guiding.
