Independent Trips

Wanna hike in the Amazon jungle? Sip hot chocolate in the Alps? Go sight-seeing in London?

There's nothing like a Guiding trip to enable you to see the world – and yourself – in a whole new way. Girl Guides of Canada's nationally-sponsored travel experiences offer girls and Guiders the chance to increase their understanding of global issues, explore new cultures and communities, and develop a sense of belonging to the global sisterhood of Guiding.

Units are welcome to plan their own travel adventures

Guiders, it's never too early or too late to check out independent travel opportunities for you and your girls!
  1. Start by reading Safe Guide for important planning information.
  2. Check out some of the GSUSA websites for nearby Girl Scout Councils which may be holding camps you can attend.
  3. Think about an overnight adventure in Ottawa or Québec City. Many museums have sleepover packages. The train is a great way to travel and you can then take public transit on arrival.

For Pathfinder and Ranger Guiders:

  • The only limit is your imagination, and maybe a budget! Do some leg work before talking to your girls about this.
  • Decide if you want to camp or need a warm bed.
  • Check out WAGGGS countries’ websites for camp events they will be holding.
  • Consider attending a session at a World Centre. This is the easiest possible way to plan a trip!
