Canadian World Friendship Fund

Girl Guides of Canada’s membership in WAGGGS enables Canadian Guiders and girls to have a direct and positive impact on the lives of girls and women, locally, nationally and globally. We organize this through the Canadian World Friendship Fund (CWFF).

The money collected for the CWFF is used for various programs, activities, events and initiatives including Mutual Aid. Mutual Aid promotes international cooperation, friendship and understanding among Member Organizations of WAGGGS.  Funds are made available to support projects in developing countries designed to improve the lives of girls and young women and their communities.  Funds also support the four World Centres, to keep them running and assist them to provide programs for girls and Guiders around the world at reasonable cost.

Contributions to CWFF also support GGC international service projects, as well as helping international Girl Guides and Girl Scouts attend national camps and other events. Working to support CWFF also enhances Unit activities in Canada and our work to meet the Mission of WAGGGS and Girl Guides of Canada to encourage girls and young women to reach their potential and become active citizens of the world.

A portion of the CWFF is also allocated annually to the World Thinking Day Fund administered by WAGGGS.  For 2012, WAGGGS has identified five countries across five regions which are eligible for support in their efforts to help achieve environmental sustainability: Guyana, Ivory Coast, Japan, Russia and Tunisia.
