Pathfinders Pathfinders

For girls ages 12 to 14
Pathfinders is a program by girls, for girls.

What do girls in Pathfinders do?

Pathfinders plan their own program with the guidance of an adult Leader. As a Pathfinder, you'll have lots of chances to take the lead, get involved and help others. You can volunteer in your community giving your time and energy to something you believe in. If outdoor activities and camping are your thing, then you'll love the outings and trips you'll get to organize. If you want to explore new interests like photography, cooking or web design, you can do that, too. Pathfinders also offers the chance to travel internationally, particularly to the Guiding World Centres in Mexico, England, Switzerland and India. No two Pathfinder meetings are alike.

Activities include:

  • Leading activities for girls in younger branches
  • Planning a tree planting project
  • Learning how to write a great resume
  • Exploring career options
  • Meeting amazing women leaders
  • Creating a graphic novel
  • Writing a friendship bill of rights
  • Working towards the Canada Cord, a nationally recognized leadership award

Looking for extra adventure?

Extraordinary Options is a program choice for girls aged 12-17 who want to focus on just one aspect of Guiding. These units meet less frequently than regular units and tend to focus on large projects, trips or adventures. Currently, there are Extraordinary Options units that focus on sports, arts and outdoor activities, called Trex units. In Trex, girls learn important skills and make lifelong friends while pursuing exciting outdoor activities. The adventure-based program includes camping, canoeing and hiking.

Unable to attend regular meetings?

Lones is an option for girls who are unable to attend regular meetings due to distance, health, work, studies or physical challenge. Lones carry out the program of their branch by correspondence. For more information on this program, contact your Provincial Office.
