Are you interested in taking OAL Adventure?
Typically for Pathfinder, Ranger and Trex Guiders but open to all Guiders with prior tent camping experience, this training series helps them to develop skills, knowledge and capacity in adventure camping (backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, horse packing, winter camping, etc.).
This year's Training will take place at the Maritime Inn in Port Hawkesbury beginning Saturday, February 10th at 9am and finishing at 3pm on Monday, February 12th and includes 21 hours of modular knowledge sessions and at least 5 nights of expedition tripping.
Module (1-7) content includes: Trip Design and Structure, Risk Assessment and Management, Leadership Styles and Group Dynamics , Navigation, Adventure Camping Gear, Adventure Camping Food, Campsite Management, and Expeditions (module 8)
The course will run for a minimum of 5 Guiders and space is limited to 20 participants.
Module 8: Expeditions will take place later in 2018.
For Guiders interested in OAL Residential and Tenting, it will be offered in late April at Camp Cairdeas. Watch for registration information in 2018.
Pre-requisite: All Guiders may attend this weekend event, but a completed OAL Tent camping training (including the component of leading camps as Responsible Guider) must be achieved prior to participating in the adult expeditions (module 8) later in 2018.
Registration information:
- There is no charge to Guiders for this training event and mileage will be paid to participants per the provincial budget plan.
- Please note that submission of this form does not guarantee registration; expect a follow-up e-mail from the planning team.
- Deadline for registration is Jan. 27th.
- It is recognized that plans do change, accommodations costs associated with cancellations received after Feb 6th or for any participants that do not show up will be assessed to the member.
