Updated for 2025 – New trip-unit cookie incentive tiers and enhanced subsidy for Guiders
Ontario Council trip incentive and financial assistance program
Ontario Council supports independent international and travel in Canada girl-focused trips (over 72 hours in duration) with a trip incentive and financial assistance program. Financial assistance is available for both girls and Guiders.
2025 cookie case incentive (effective May 1, 2025)
Girl participants can earn additional financial support based on the number of cookie cases sold by the trip unit during the planning period of their approved trip. Individual and group sales are eligible as long as they are tracked and submitted using the updated independent trip budget template by the trip Treasurer.
Cases sold incentive per case:
0-20 cases = $2
21-40 cases = $3
41-60 cases = $3
61+ cases = $4
Important: Only cookies ordered directly by the trip unit are eligible for the incentive. Transferred cases from another unit do not qualify.
Guider financial support
Guiders can receive $320 in financial support, based on the number of Guiders required per Safe Guide ratio for the trip. Should the number of adults exceed Safe Guide ratio, the trip can choose to split the total financial assistance between all Guiders.
- Maximum subsidy: $320 per eligible Guider
- Eligibility: Must be included in Safe Guide ratio for the approved trip
How to apply for financial assistance
Once your trip has received final approval (IT.3 for international or SG.3 for in Canada) and all cookies ordered by the trip unit have been sold and revenue deposited, the trip is eligible to apply for the incentive and subsidies.
Steps:
- Use the updated independent trip budget template to track cookie sales.
- Deposit all revenue into the trip unit account.
- The unit Treasurer must email the completed template to on-trips@girlguides.ca.
- Include the trip name and a note stating the unit is applying for financial assistance.
Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Can this subsidy and incentive be used for other overnight activities, like camps?
No. The subsidy and cookie incentive are only available for independent trip units planning approved international or travel in Canada trips.
Can I transfer cookie cases from another unit to boost our total?
Cases can be transferred, but only cookies ordered directly by the trip unit count toward the financial incentive.
When can we submit the budget template to apply?
Once all cookie revenue from the trip unit's order is deposited into the account and verified.
Do both individual and group cookie sales count?
Yes! As long as the cookies are ordered by the trip unit and tracked through the proper template, both types of sales qualify.
