InReach Request Form

BC Adventure Trex has two InReach devices for adventures.

The InReach works by SMS and email so I can program the messages to go to your Home Contact Person (HCP) by either cell or email or both. Complete this form with details needed to program the InReach and to mail you the device.

Your unit is responsible for the cost of mailing the InReach devise back to BC Adventure Trex in Surrey BC. Please return the InReach device promptly as other units may have bookings.

For best results, the InReach can be paired with your Smart Phone. Please have a way to charge your phone if away from electricity (example: power pack).

Information to assist you in Safe Guiding planning

The standard pre-programmed messages to include in your SG.4 are:

  • Trip check-in. We're ok: Can be sent multiple times during your camp/adventure. Please write your check in times on your SG paperwork.
  • Non-emergency help needed. Please send emergency services to our location: Maybe used in missing person, or medical injury that may prevent mobility such as badly sprained ankle, but not life endangering.
  • Experiencing a delay, but we are OK. Please wait for update: Follow up with text from your smart phone.
  • SOS = Group of X girls (ages ___) and X leaders hiking ___ trail, with day trip to ___: Life-threatening emergency. An open wound, head injury, broken bone, etc. are causes of emergency. These injuries may expect a longer response time so proactive SOS may be required.

Instructions for your HCP

  • Give your HCP a list of check-in times you will send an OK message
  • Make a plan for when your HCP will call emergency services if you have not contacted or replied (how much time they will wait or how many times to try to contact…)
  • If an SOS is sent, the GEOS centre will be calling to check in with your HCP from a 1-800 number from somewhere USA so please answer these calls, it is not a prank/spam
  • If non-EMS is needed; call 911 and ask for RCMP who are responsible for dispatching Search & Rescue (good to note RCMP detachment info on your SG.4). When you get in contact with an officer you will need to collect a cell phone number from the Officer that they can be reached at to send up to the group through the InReach Messaging. This will allow the group to start communicating with them directly.
